Ridgeons is delighted to have been able to support the work of Huntingdonshire District Council in creating the Green House Project, an innovative scheme which has seen the local authority acquire two residential properties for sustainable refurbishment.

These two homes, one in St. Ives and one in St. Neots, will be used to demonstrate what steps homeowners and builders can take to reduce their own properties’ carbon emissions.

Working closely with its suppliers, Ridgeons has been able to provide Huntingdonshire District Council many of the products and building materials required to retrofit each of the houses to the required carbon emission levels.

Community involvement has always been central to the Ridgeons’ philosophy and it was a natural step for the family owned company to become involved in such a vital community project.

As experts on the Code for Sustainable Homes and modern methods of construction, Ridgeons is able to provide guidance on sustainable development and retrofit projects to all homeowners and housebuilders interested in reducing their carbon emissions.

Taking current designs of homes into account, available budgets and the required levels of carbon reduction, Ridgeons’ team is able to provide expert advice on which products the customer should select.

Long term, Ridgeons will continue to support the Green House Project, partnering with Huntingdonshire District Council to provide carbon reduction seminars and informative literature about the sustainable material and products installed in the two properties.

People wishing to learn more about how they can reduce the carbon emissions of their homes, new or old, can speak with Ridgeons’ specialist sustainability team, to receive expert advice about a wide range of sustainable building materials and products.
